The Makra Trek SF Extra GTX is the right boot for longer hikes and multi-day tours with a heavy backpack. What are its distinguishing features? For this model HANWAG is using their StraightFit Extra Last. It combines the generous, wide toe box of the StraightFit Last that allows the big toe to assume a straight position with additional room at the forefoot with the ball of the foot area from the Wide Last. As such, it provides a good fit for people with a wider forefoot – or who want more space for their big toes. Despite the roomy toebox, the midfoot is still wrapped firmly to guarantee perfect support in more difficult terrain. A secure fit at the front of the foot and good overall stability is also ensured by the optimised ghilly lacing which runs through textile loops right down into the toe area. The HANWAG 2 Zone Lock with mechanical lace lock improves the fit at the heel. Unlike conventional clamping lace hooks, the mechanical lace lock remains fixed in place and cannot slip unless manually adjusted. The tried-and tested ‘Makra fit’ wraps around the foot to give outstanding power transfer. As a result, foot and shoe form a single unit from heel to toe. The StraightFit Extra Last twins with a cushioning PU midsole. And the Vibram Trekking SF outsole with its wide contact surface ensures sturdiness and stability. Thanks to the waterproof GORE-TEX membrane, this boot keeps your feet dry in wet weather. The Perwanger split leather upper is robust, breathable and long-lasting.
